Ettore Sottsass (b.1917), who passed away in December last year, was a highly influential,if flambuoyant and colourful , designer and architect, whose powers were at their height in the second half of the 20th century.

During his nearly 40year period as designer and consultant to Olivetti, he produced many designs for office machinery and furniture ,as well as his pop-influenced “totem” ceramics. In 1969, he brought out his bright red typewriter “the Valentine” for Olivetti. The above is not,of course, an image of his creation. The moulded plastic encased typewriter ,intended by Sottsass not to obviously resemble a piece of office machinery but rather to be more a domestic fashion accessory, can be seen in image at the studio international website by clicking here.

If you would like to see more of this iconic typewriter, perhaps you would even like to own one , you should go to the eBay site click here
