Newer Slimmer but still Classic Baracuta G9 by Harrington

Last weekend,in the Mail On Sunday Live magazine supplement, Martin Freeman,a star of such hits as The Office,This Life and The Bill, shows he is a not so closet mod, and that he’s fastidious about his appearance.

By personal choice, he joins an illustrious band of actors, sportsmen and celebrities who favour a Sixties look on a regular basis, when not in working clothes. We find out that a particular favourite item of dress for Martin Freeman is his slim fit windcheater, the classic Baracuta G9.

Beloved of stars past and present, this Harrington jacket, the original and the best, may not keep your bottom completely warm, but everything ‘north’ to chin is, or cool, as you need in a stylish sort of way. So if you also want to be individual and make a statement – emulating an image of the likes of Elvis and Steve McQueen is optional- you, too, can have your own G9 like Martin. Monopoly:Your own personalized property game

Did you know that the board game Monopoly was developed by an unemployed heating engineer called Charles Darrow and patented by him in 1935?

Darrow’s first version of the game was rejected by a toy manufacturer to whom he tried to sell it. That company rejected the game on the grounds it had 52 ‘faults’ with it and it would not catch on to become a big seller! Parker Brothers, the toy company did buy the game in the end.

It is reckoned that over 750 million have played Monopoly since it was patented by Darrow. Furthermore, Parker Brothers (now a Hasbro brand) prints $40 billion of Monopoly money every year,or twice the amount of real money printed by the US mint!

Now,and here’s the thing, Monopoly has continued to be developed since those early days. Indeed, although Darrow is credited with the game’s creation, he is perhaps more properly the person who developed the idea and made it the vast commercial success it is. Across the US,in the 1920s and 1930s, others had played a variation of the game. You,too, can join in the tradition of developing the most successful board game of all time(according to the Guinness Book of Records) and have your own personalized set produced for you! Create and name the properties you want in your own Monopoly game. Yes,you can do this, and change some other details, also! So,be a property tycoon.Go to the Firebox website for details by clicking here.

Another ’70s Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair And Ottoman

You may have missed the earlier chair for sale. I have found another that may appeal to you,and it may be more fitting for your pocket. These circa 1975 beautiful and functional items do come around ,and you have to weigh in the balance price and condition for your ideal buy.

If you are interested in owning  iconic pieces of American furniture, these items – the 670  chair and the 671 ottoman-are described as in excellent condition overall with bentwood panels in Brazilian Rosewood veneer, then have a look at the eBay,co.uk site by clicking here.

Eames lounge chair and ottoman original not repro

Of the many Eames’s fine chair designs, this is possibly one of the most recognisable. Not because it was, or indeed is cheap to buy;it is not. Charles Eames was an American architect, who with his wife Ray were responsible for many famous stylish and comfortable mid-century modern chair designs.

Imagine after a hard days work sinking into the lounger shown above. With an incline (to 15%) just right, and a nice cold drink of lemonade to wash away your cares, you could spend happy time gazing out of your lounge window over a white beach and a crystal sea…no matter, perhaps you don’t need the view…

This lounger, with ottoman, is being sold as an original in tip-top condition. The chair comprises three walnut veneered moulded plywood units or shells. The padded cushions are attached to the shells and are covered in black leather. The base of the chair is attached to an aluminium swivel base. The ottoman is similarly made, and of the same materials. If you are interested in this luxury item from the mid-century you can check it out here
