The designer, George Cawardine, later designers greatly admired came up with idea of of a jointed arm contolled in its movement by a series of springs.The balance created was such that a person could simply and gently pull this way and that to bring the light set in a dark shade to bear on the required spot on a desk so the operator could read or write comfortably.The anglepoise lamp 1227 was born!There are a range of colours to choose from but black shade,armature and stand will be familiar.
As a piece of valuable working equipment it works as efficiently as it ever did.Simply and not overawed by hightech advances in lighting.
The product has been copied many times down the years.However, it testamony to the original that it can still be bought and at a competitive price.It is my favourite piece,there ready and waiting to serve.
