Top Scandinavian Design 20th Century Serving Bowl

Although over a million Krenit bowls were mass produced and sold between 1953 and 1966 they are still very collectable today. The originals of some of these vintage cool, elegant, simple, and functional bowls are expensive to buy but, thankfully Danish company, normann-copenhagen ,relaunched the range fifty years later in 2009. The prices for the current range are lower and therefore more affordable.

Herbert Krenshel, a Danish civil engineer, created his enduring design classic to be both a decorative and a versatile household item. He perfected the tough fired coatings for his steel bowls which became known for their eye-catching and rich vibrant colours , often with one colour for the interior surface of the bowl another for the outer surface.

The Krenit became so named after combining parts of his name and eternit, the name of the trademarked material he used in the exterior enamel finishes to his bowls.

Apart from the sleek lines of his design making this a beautiful homeware decoration in itself, a range of sizes available up from small dipping sauce to salad mixing bowls makes it an easy use food-safe household bowl for the kitchen or at the meal table.

Though clearly made to last, a few simple care instructions will help to keep your bowls in good order. They should be cleaned in warm water and dried thoroughly, and also metal utensils should not be used with them.
